Job Description and Job Responsibilites

Transporter

Job Summary:

A non licensed member of patient care services skilled to perform a variety of tasks including but not limited to participating on the hospital lift team and assisting with the transportation of patients. Reports to Nursing Administration, Chief Nursing Officer. OR Transporter reports to the Director Surgical Services, OR Manager.

Essential Job Duties: 

  • Demonstrates ability to transport patients in a safe and comfortable manner according to hospital policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates knowledge and competency in participating in the Hospital Lift Team, utilizing safe body mechanics
  • Responsible for maintain clean transportation equipment in safe working order,  removing and reporting faulty equipment per hospital policy
  • Serves as a role model for the Mission, Vision and Values of the organization. Fulfills other job duties as requested with scope and within hospital policies and procedures and other regulatory  standards
  • Maintains current competencies

Job Requirements

Education/Experience:

  • High school graduate
  • Prefer at least 1 year of experience in an acute care setting

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Current BLS Card
  • Certificate of successful completion of an AB 508 course within 3 months of hire or within the previous 2 years

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
