Job Title: Surgery Scheduler

Job Summary:

Performs clerical, receptionist duties and maintains the physical environment of the Surgery Scheduling office. Individually schedules surgeries in a prompt and organized manner based upon established policies and procedures.  Participates in patient care by reporting and coordinating surgical details in a concise and efficient manner.  Reports to Manager of Surgical Services, Nursing Director.

Essential Job Duties: 

  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize and organize clerical  / receptionist duties and work flow

  • Maintains all surgical statistics daily and monthly in a timely and organized manner

  • Demonstrates the ability to schedule all surgical cases in a timely manner so as not to delay or create cancel procedures.

  • Demonstrates ability to correctly operate office equipment and maintain a safe environment

  • Performs essential role in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, regulatory standards and fulfills other job duties as requested within scope

  • Serves as a role model for the Mission, Vision and Values of the organization and fulfills other job duties as requested within Scope of Practice

  • Maintains current competencies as well as updated knowledge in specific area of practice

Job Requirements

Education/Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred. 

  • Requires at least 1 year prior surgery scheduling experience. 

  • Hospital/Surgery Center experience, medical terminology and computer skills required.

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Current BLS for Health Care Providers card.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
