Job Description and Job Responsibilites

Job Title: Store Room Clerk / Materials Handler

Job Summary:

Works under the supervision of the Director of Materials Management, participates in all phases of processing of materials. Responsible for the distribution and replenishment of required supplies to the various departments throughout the hospital. Issues and receives daily parcels and supplies in the Materials Management automated computer system.

Essential Job Duties: 

  • Required to lift, push and/or pull weight in excess of 50 lbs.
  • Demonstrates the ability to transport supplies and goods to the appropriate departments.
  • Demonstrates the ability to verify quality and quantity of deliveries shipped to the hospital by contracted vendors.

  • Responsible for shipping and receiving of all parcels.

  • Works with the hospital buyer in assuring that adequate stock levels are maintained.

  • Receives and issues supplies by utilizing the Materials Management inventory computer system.

  • Completes assigned duties in an organized and timely manner.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole          numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Licensure/Certification:  N/A
