Job Title: Senior System Administrator

Job Summary:

The Senior System Administrator’s role is to administer Avanti’s computer systems to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported business applications. This individual participates in the planning and implementation of computer systems to ensure system deployments are consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. This position also supports the Network Administrator as a backup resource.

Beyond technical responsibilities, the Senior System Administrator will often act as a liaison between hospital management staff and the Information Technology department.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and software in conjunction with end-users and department managers.
  • Coordinate with network engineering, business application, and database administration functions to implement desktop and server systems that utilize industry best practices to meet corporate objectives.
  • Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data on host computers, multiple databases, and during data transfer in accordance to business needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on servers, input/output fleet, and workstations.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to junior members of the IT team.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant information of systems, storage, industries best practices, and current and evolving technology.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a System Administrator or closely related position.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Sciences or related field preferred
  • Strong knowledge of multi-platform systems, virtual environments and centralized storage.
  • Strong knowledge of local area network administration.
  • Technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards.
  • Exceptional software and hardware troubleshooting skills
