Job Description and Job Responsibilites

Job Title: Medical Assistant / Comprehensive Perinatal Health Worker (CPHW) OB Clinic

Job Summary:

The MA/ CPHW employee performs assigned outpatient care activities based upon established Clinic policies and procedures. Specific areas of responsibility include assembly and maintenance of medical records, scheduling patient appointments, tests, education and family teaching and assisting the MD with clinical functions. Reports to Manager of OB Clinic for administrative tasks and Nursing Director Obstetrical Services for clinical tasks 

Essential Job Duties: 

  • Schedules patient appointments, activities, tests, follow up appointments, consults and referrals as needed. Performs clerical duties including, but not limited to, typing, filing, answering phone, copying and handling information that is confidential in nature

  • Collects and compiles relevant patient information, updates and ensures it is added to patient medical record

  • Coordinates the transfer / transmission of information between the Prenatal Clinic and other Hospital departments when appropriate

  • Assists in ensuring adequate and accurate inventory levels of all office, chart and medical supplies.

  • Serves as a role model for the mission, vision and values of the organization and fulfills other job duties as requested within scope of practice

  • Maintains current competencies as well as updated knowledge in specific area of practice

Job Requirements


  • High school graduate


  • Current Medical Assistant Certification

  • Current Comprehensive Perinatal Health Worker Certification

  • Current Certification in Lactation Education

  • Current BLS for Healthcare provider Card
