Job Title: Manager of Business Development

At Memorial Hospital of Gardena, the manager of business development promotes hospital services to various physicians and the community at large.  Serves as liaison between Hospital Administration and the Medical Staff focusing on recruitment of new physicians that complement the Avanti business strategy.  Works for the retention or redirection of the Medical Staff’s utilization of hospital services.  Reports to the Director of Business Development. 

Essential Job Duties:

  • Promote service line initiative to physicians and other health care providers.
  • Maintain a consistent channel of communication between the various Medical Staffs, Administration, Corporate and other Support Services.
  • Research prospective accounts in targeted markets, and pursue leads.
  • Understand the target markets and which market strategies can be used to attract physician business.
  • Maintain relationships with current clients and identify new prospects within the area you have been assigned.
  • Possess a strong understanding of Avanti services, our competition in the industry and positioning.
  • Follow the latest industry developments and stay up-to-date on competitors.

Leadership Functions: 

  • Demonstrate leadership skills including the ability to plan, prioritize, organize, analyze, execute on multiple tasks and in collaboration with other hospital departments, providing direction and setting expectations consistent with the goals of the organization.
  • Demonstrate behaviors commensurate with the Vision, Mission and Values and Behavioral Standards of the organization.

Communication/Knowledge:

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate with various individuals both inside and outside the organization; able to understand and create reports/presentations/proposals.
  • Ability to work under stressful situations.
  • Proficient with computer applications and systems.




Job Requirements

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing / Communications or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years health care marketing / business development experience.

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and statistical analysis software.
  • IS 100, IS 200, IS 700, IS 800 certification preferred
