Job Description and Job Responsibilites

 

Job Summary: The Information Security Technician, under the guidance of the Director of Information Security, will implement, monitor, and maintain policies and standards for information technology-related controls, to improve the security posture of Avanti Hospital's Information Technology infrastructure.  The Information Security Technician will coordinate with other departments to promote awareness and training on security protocols.  The position requires a good understanding of general information technology concepts including computer hardware and software, as well as client and server based operating systems. 

 

Essential Job Duties:

 

  • Operational monitoring of security systems (Firewalls, IPS, EPS and WSUS)
  • Assist in administering companywide security awareness training
  • Assist in performing vulnerability and risk assessments, including pen-tests and vulnerability scans
  • Ensure proper security policies and procedures are being followed
  • Assist with security related incident investigations
  • Identify vulnerabilities and assist in introducing corrective actions
  • Participate in Information security projects and complete tasks as assigned
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations

Job Requirements

Education/Experience:  

  

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as an information technology professional
  • Experience in the healthcare industry as well as security certifications such as, (CCNA, CISSP, GIAC) or bachelor's degree in computer science is highly desirable.

 

ADA/Physical Demands:

 

  • Occasional travel between system locations required.
  • Frequent/continuous sitting and standing/walking with frequent position changes.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Frequent reaching above shoulder level and overhead.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, squatting, pushing/pulling and kneeling.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying objects/equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Continuous use of near vision, hearing, and verbal communications skills in handling telephone calls, interacting with customers/co-workers, and performing job duties.
