Job Description and Job Responsibilites

Job Title: Cook

Job Summary:

Prepares and cooks food according to HACCP and all regulatory standards including title 22 & Joint Commission.

Essential Job Duties:

  •  Prepares and cooks to order foods requiring short preparation time.

  • Reads food order or receives verbal instructions on food required by patron, prepares and cooks food according to instruction. Has knowledge about different diets and consistency’s.

  • Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times.

  • Follows basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, and cooking.
  • Prepares foods by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients
  • Follows safe food handling procedures for food preparation, cooking, holding and storage of all food items and assists in the monitoring of HACCP. Takes corrective action as needed.
  • Check temperatures and logs results per procedure.
  • Cleans and sanitizes work stations and equipment.
  • Assists with cafeteria set-up and break down of hot food items.
  • May be responsible for hot server position.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education/Experience:

  • High school graduate preferred

  • 1 to 2 years of current experience in an acute care setting preferred

  • Serv-safe preferred

Licensure/Certifications: None
