POSITION SUMMARY:

Under indirect supervision, takes medical and obstetrical histories, performs obstetrical and/or gynecological examinations; assesses patients medical condition; administers treatment under protocols; refers patients to other services when indicated, advises and counsels patient or legal guardian of patient problems; assists physician as requested.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Baccalaureate degree in nursing required; MN/MSN preferred A minimum of 3-5 years recent acute and ambulatory experience in a Prenatal and/or OBGYN setting. A minimum of 1 year in a Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP) or eligible for CPSP Provider Certification within three months of employment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical information, and to be easily understood through verbal communication in the English language. Must be able to prepare documentation in a manner that conforms to prescribed style and format, and to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Bilingual skills (Spanish) preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must have current California Registered Nurse Practitioner with a furnishing Permit in the State of California Certification as an OZB/GYN Nurse Practitioner by a qualifying state or national accrediting agency. BCLS certification

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee is regularly required to lift, push and/or pull weights in excess of 10 pounds. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds, with assistance. Visual and auditory must be intact to perform tasks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
