Summary: The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) will be responsible for following guidelines and implementation, management, supervision, and evaluation of all medical aspects of the company’s programs in accordance with the standards and procedures set out by the organization.

Reports directly to the Behavioral Health Nurse Manager and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, he/she will work within the guidelines, policies and mission of the company and will be accountable and responsible for specific projects as assigned.

Level of Care: Inpatient Behavioral Health


  • Administration of medication, document and observe medication regimen for clients at all levels of care
  • Ensures accurate documentation on medication orders.
  • Observe clients, charts and reports changes in residents’ conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment and taking any necessary action.
  • Measures and records patients’ vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration when required.
  • Works as part of a health care team to assess client’s needs, plan and modify care and implement interventions.
  • Facilitates education on medication management, infection control, health and safety procedures.
  • Provide monitoring and supervision of clients to support non-clinical staff.
  • Perform proper medication count and ensure documentation reflects the narc count log, at all times.
  • Is responsible for maintaining ethical practices and maintaining perimeters designated by scope of practice.
  • Ensures infection control practices and reporting procedures are in place.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, ADA and Joint Commission policies and procedures.
  • Other tasks or duties that may be assigned.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical information, and to be easily understood through verbal communication in the English language. Must be able to prepare documentation in a manner that conforms to prescribed style and format, and to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Bilingual skills (Spanish) preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to perform upper level mathematical operations, including algebra and geometry, frequent distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee is regularly required to lift, push and/or pull weights in excess of 10 pounds. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds, with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
