Job Title: Patient Access Director

Job Summary:

Report to the Regional Director of the Centralized Business Office responsible for the operations in of the Patient Access Department including Communications.  Responsibilities to include, overseeing the start of the revenue cycle process, increasing Charity, Medi-Cal, and cash collections in order to reduce bad debit.  Maintain the regulatory requirements including Title 22, TJC compliance, EMTALA, and HIPAA.

Essential Job Duties: 

  • Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Patient Access Departments – To include the processing of outpatients, in-patients, surgeries, and emergency registrations.

  • Monitor and review patient registration reports on discharge accounts to avoid billing delays.

  • Assist the Physicians, Directors, and Departments in resolving day to day issues and assist in developing process to improve flow.

  • Responsible for department HR-functions to include interviewing, hiring, performance reviews, coaching, counseling and terminations.

  • Conducts regular staff meeting as well as ongoing education.

  • Attends required meetings and reports information to Performance Improvement and to Emergency Department Committees.

Job Requirements


  • High school graduate required

  • 4 to 5 years experience as Patient Access Department Director in Acute Hospital setting


  • BCLS Certified
