Position Summary: 

The Staff Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) who practices within the scope of the Illinois Nurse Practice Act to ensure the delivery of comprehensive, high quality, individualized nursing care, based upon knowledge, experience, the nursing process and leadership skills. The RN incorporates the carative factors of human care and performs established procedures in accordance with the organization’s and nursing division's policies, procedures and standards of care. The RN coordinates family involvement in the assessment/treatment and continuing care of the patient, and delegate’s tasks to competent and appropriate caregivers. Adheres to the mission, values and philosophy of WSMC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1.     Assesses each patient’s biophysical, psychosocial, environment, spiritual, cultural, self-care, educational and discharge planning based on age and                  development status. 

2.     Utilizes the caring behaviors of empathy, active listening and cultural sensitivity and supports patient dignity while developing and prioritizing an                        outcome directed plan of care to assigned patients and update as needed. 

3.     Performs clinical and technical aspects of care in accordance with established policies, procedures, standards of practice and within scope of the State            Nurse Practice Act. Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing interventions. Modifies the plan of care focusing on age and development status and patient            outcomes. 

4.     Reviews the plan of care and consults with the physician and other health care providers to adjust the plan to assure optimum patient outcomes within            the scheduled timeframe. 

5.     Demonstrates an understanding of and model the mission and core values of WSMC through behavior and attitude while enhancing professional                      growth and development by accessing educational programs, job related literature, in-service meetings, and workshops/seminars.

  Educational Requirements:

        Associate's Degree Required; Bachelor's Degree Preferred

        Current BLS Certification Required                         

        Registered Nurse with Current Illinois License        

        Ability to speak and write English to the extent necessary for safe and efficient performance of the job
