Job Title: EVS Supervisor

Job Summary: 

Is responsible for supervising all aspects of housekeeping/environmental services for the Hospital to ensure a safe, clean and attractive environment.  Evaluates and sets standards for work activities and consistently monitors the work of the Environmental Services (EVS) Leads and EVS Technicians. Completes regular tours of areas to evaluate and follow-up on EVS Technician work performance.  Monitors assigned work routines and adjust schedules to accommodate special projects.  Organizes work flow and establishes priorities on a daily basis.  Ensures the EVS Technicians have adequate supplies and tools to complete their assigned tasks and as needed assists in cleaning duties when short staffed or when requested by Administration. Fosters an environment of open communication between EVS Technicians, other departments and Administration.

 Essential Job Duties:

  • Directs institutional housekeeping program to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive conditions of establishment by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate Leads.

  • Establishes departmental objectives, policy and procedures, annual budget and purchase priorities, supervisory priorities and staffing needs, in conjunction with the Director of Facilities. Keeps Director of Facilities informed of department problems and/or issues needing attention.

  • Establishes a relationship with hospital department Mangers to determine cleaning priorities and requirements.

  • Establishes standards and procedures for work of housekeeping staff.  Plans work schedules to ensure adequate service.  Oversees the inspection of areas within the hospital to ensure that the seven 7 cleaning procedures,  standards of cleanliness and safety are being maintained according to established policy and regulatory requirements

  • Is an active member of the Safety Committee, performing monthly7 step cleaning procedures and safety audits to report back to the Committee.  Submits to management recommendations for painting, repairs, furnishing, relocation of equipment, and reallocation of space.

  • Investigates new and improved cleaning instruments and methods. Attends seminars and workshops to keep abreast of new developments in the area of environmental technology, also selects, trains and schedules the activities of staff performing a variety of housekeeping activities based on the new methods and or instruments.

  • Inventories supplies and equipment. Initiates the requisition and issuance of housekeeping supplies; coordinates repairs with the Maintenance Department.

Job Requirements


  • High School diploma, one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • One to three years hospital EVS Supervision experience preferred.


  • IS.100, IS.200, IS.700, IS.800 if the person will be consider to take a HICS position during Disasters or Disaster Drills
