Minimum Education

CNA or MA, or sufficient equivalent experience, BLS from AHA

ER Tech II Job Requirements: 

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Required Licenses/Certifications

Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic certification, nursing student who has completed clinical skills checklist and in clinical rotation. BLS from AHA

Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Communication, organization, computer, team player, works independently with guidance and delegation of RN/Medical Staff

 

Essential Functions of the Role: 

Works with and assists physicians and nurses and provides technical support for patient care. Communicates effectively with the healthcare team to gather and exchange information related to patient care. 

Assists with mobility, toileting, feeding, and other personal care needs. Comforts patients and family members and responds to their concerns. 

Collects objective data such as vital signs, weight, and placement of oxygen saturation, cardiac monitoring, and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring systems, visual acuity, nutritional intake and output and documents in electronic medical record (EMR). 

Assists in obtaining 12-lead EKGs, insertion of foley catheters, wound care, performs phlebotomy to obtain venous blood samples and obtains and delivers other specimens for laboratory analysis. Documents all care provided in the EMR. 

Recognizes and reports abnormal data or findings promptly. Implements physician, provider, and nursing orders responsibly and documents interventions according to hospital protocol in EMR. 

Assists with the transport of patient to other departments. 

Assists with resuscitation / CPR. 

Assists with positioning patients, application of orthopedic splints and dressings, and assists in patient education. Measure and fit crutches and cases and instruct patients on a proper crutch and cane walking. 

Cleans and stocks supplies in the ER, rooms, and changes linen as required, decontaminates all equipment, instruments, and supplies. 

Maintains use of appropriate medical equipment and supplies.
