Incumbent is responsible for the clinical and daily management of the Emergency Department. Shapes and interprets the standards of emergency nursing care as it relates to daily operational practices of professional and paraprofessional staff, mentoring of staff, assist with resource and budget management, continuous quality management, and access/through-put of patients. Assists the Administrative Director with 24-hour accountability for the Emergency Department.

1.        R.N. Required, Masters Perferred.

2.        Current Illinois R.N. licensure.

3.        3-5 years of Emergency Department leadership experience.

4.        BLS, ACLS , PALS, NRP and CPI  certification required.

5.        CEN desired, must obtain within 6 months of hire.

6.        Average computer skills necessary to access patient databases, e-mail systems, etc.

7.        Knowledge of JCAHO, IDPH, and other regulatory agencies.

8.        Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

9.        Change agent skills to influence HR utilization and motivation, marketing, and departmental relations.

10.    Proven ability to inspire leadership skills in all nursing positions and facilitate a team environment.

11.    Ability to apply theories of group process and group dynamics in a leadership role.
