Responsible for the overall operation of all Cardiology Operations including Cardiac Rehabilitation, Cardiology Clinic, Cardiac Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology,  and Respiratory Care.  Upholds and maintains standards of care in the clinical areas and the ongoing development of staff.  Shapes and interprets the philosophy and definition of services as it relates to short and long-term planning, program and staff development, patient care, resource and budget management, quality assurance, and systems utilization. 


1.       Bachelors ins,  Nursing (with current IL license).  Masters Degree in Nursing preferred. .

2.       Five  years experience in Nursing  Cardiology, IR and/or Cath Lab related field/Respiratory medicine.

3.       Three years healthcare management experience

4.       Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

5.       Knowledge of  TJC, IDPH, and other regulatory bodies

6.       Good computer skills necessary to access patient databases, e-mail systems, etc.

7.       Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to inspire leadership.

8.       Effective management skills to influence Human Resources utilization and motivation, marketing, and inter- and intra-departmental relations.



  •        Supervises and evaluates quality of patient care provided and the skill level and pride values of staff.  Identifies competencies requiring review and annual testing.  Identifies staff educational needs and ensures needs are met and comply with educational standards.  Provides staff with formal and informal feedback on their performances.  *
  •       Serves as a role model in clinical excellence for the unit(s) staff through provision of quality patient care as necessary.  Provides direction to the staff in the implementation of the nursing process.  Serves as patient advocate.*
  •       Participates with Senior Executives, Nursing and Medical staff to define unit specific goals and objectives. Interprets and directs the development, implementation, and evaluation of unit goals and objectives, policies/procedures, and standards of care. *
  •       Facilitates the development of feasible standards of care and practice, including the integration/networking with agencies/services along the continuum of care. *
  •       Evaluates patient/physician satisfaction and problem solves to improve.
  •       Maintains, supervises, evaluates and develops unit personnel with the full authority to discipline and terminate as necessary. Provides staff with informal and formal feedback on their performances.*
  •       Promotes patient safety by ensuring staff is educated and compliant on all required safety methods as well as internal policies. *
  •        Actively participates in the education and development of staff by providing opportunities and facilitating in department in-services, conferences, and/or individual and small group instruction as necessary.  Assesses, plans, and directs for educational and professional development programs for staff. *
  •     Prepares, monitors, and maintains annual operating and capital budgets consistent with the organization’s financial goals, Departmental Operating Goals, reimbursement trends and current and/or projected standards of care.*
  •     Meets or exceeds legal and regulatory compliance/standards with all external regulatory bodies as well as internal hospital policies.
  •     Participates in professional organizations or peer networks. Serves as contributing member on assigned councils, committees, programs, and task forces.
  •    Responsible for self-development and improvement by utilizing a continuing education process to retain effectiveness and credibility as a primary clinical resource person for department.
