Job Description and Job Responsibilites

Job Summary:

Accountable for all results of department (financial, HR, budget, metrics, etc.): responsible for relationships with department heads, A team and C levels within the Pipeline Health system: represents supply chain for major committee meetings (local product committees, risk management, VATs and/or local product committees, etc.); implements product conversions as approved by the VATs and local product committees.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Responsible for all the activities of the Materials Management departments in designated hospital to include supply chain metrics as established by Pipeline Health and may manage the acquisition of capital by managing the process, ensuring appropriate approval processes are followed, overseeing service contracts, etc.
  • Responsible for managing costs and generating revenue at the Director level; maintains awareness of Pipeline Health's contract portfolio; drives vendor compliance to contracts; determines need for custom contracts; interfaces with Supply Chain to assist in determining if volume is significant enough to warrant a national contract; is knowledgeable of Pipeline Health’s service offerings and communicates opportunities to appropriate individuals within Pipeline Health to address
  • Manages the acquisition of capital by managing the process, ensuring appropriate approval processes are followed, overseeing service contracts, etc.; manages the use of local contracts
  • Responsible for all the activities of the Material Management departments in designated hospitals to include supply chain metrics as established by Pipeline Health.
  • Develops and promotes a customer-focused orientation toward materials management; promotes a collaborative culture between Materials Management, Nursing, Medical, and ancillary departments
  • May attend hospital-specific meetings around infection control, value analysis, disaster preparedness, etc.
  • Ensures employees comply with Pipeline Health and client/system policies and procedures
  • Develops leading practice policies and procedures in stock purchasing, inventory control, receiving and storage, distribution, material processing, and returns
  • Oversees the hospital’s vendor management program to ensure vendors are credentialed and approved to be on site at the hospital
  • Makes or participates in presentations to the C suite regarding processes to increase efficiencies, inventory turns and value, inventory audits, contract implementation, product evaluations, contract compliance, savings initiatives and achievement, etc.

Job Requirements

Education/Experience:

  • Materials management supervisory experience within an acute hospital
  • 7+ years purchasing experience, including at least 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Communicates decisions to all team members consistently.
