Job Title: Customer Service Representative

Job Summary:  Displays exceptional customer service skills. Responsible for answering the phone lines in a courteous and professional manner. Assist patients with their billing questions, receives and processes patient payments. Documents patient accounts timely and accurately per patient encounter. Reports to Customer Service Supervisor.

Essential Job Duties:  

  • Displays excellent customer service skills in person and by phone
  • Answers telephone calls and routine inquiries, and makes necessary connections to proper personnel in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Retrieves and returns phone messages within 24 to 48 hours
  • Appropriately screens all phone calls for Director, and takes thorough messages.
  • Assists patients and third-party payors in resolving problems on various accounts.
  • Sorts and opens all incoming mail on a daily basis.
  • Demonstrates responsibility for routing and working departmental correspondence in accordance with departmental policies
  • Addresses patient phone calls and requests in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Responsible for telephone messages when other business office employees are unavailable.
  • Assists walk-in patients with questions and credit card payments.
  • Assists Financial Counselor in account follow-up.
  • Assist in audits with pulling and copying information.
  • Performs scanning of documents.
  • Send co-pay, co-insurance, and deductible statements to patients.
  • Perform financial class changes on early out or agency accounts.
  • Enters documentation on accounts from the Agency Status Report in a timely manner.
  • Sorts charity applications and informs patient when information is needed.
  • Performs all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education/Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Required 1 year experience in an acute care hospital setting
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must be bilingual. Fluent in Spanish Speaking
