In the radiology department we work as a team to produce the highest quality diagnostics imagine for our patients to ensure they get a high-quality reading from our Radiologist.

Our radiology department is currently seeking:

Qualifications:

1.       A graduate of an ARRT registered program.

2.       Holding in good standings an ARRT license.

3.       Licensed by Texas medical board (TMB )

4.       BLS / CPR by the American Heart Association or the Red Cross

Job Duties

a. Review physician orders for accuracy, diagnosis, and applicability to select Diagnostic exam.   If modification of a diagnostic protocol is necessary consult with radiologist and the ordering physician to determine appropriate diagnostic exam, and document changes as appropriate in electronic health record. Communicate with other resources such as nursing, and scheduling are in order.

b. Interviews patient (two patient identifier always name and Date of birth) and get a good medical history pertaining to prescribed exam’s clinical criteria. Always use AIDET Acknowledge the patient Introduce yourself Explains procedure and Instructs patient on necessary requirements needed to provide diagnostic images then Thank the Patient. Answers questions and screens patients regarding the administration of oral and IV contrast. Observes patients for adverse reactions. You are

able to activate the organizations emergency codes.  In case of adverse reaction call 81 and tell them you have a rapid response in the department you are in with the patient.

c. Assists the physician as needed in performing diagnostic procedures. Ensures that images and information are properly documented with patient identification data and appropriate labeling in the electronic health record. Utilizes technical knowledge and skills to perform procedures accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with age specific criteria.

d. Completes exam charges and image documentation in a timely manner. Performs diagnostic exams ensuring that patient meets radiation safety requirements to ALARA and Image Gently principles. Assist patient in dressing for exam and attends to patient's physical well-being while transporting to and from exam room and positioning for exam. Instructs/communicates with patient and/or patient's family (as appropriate) regarding the tests to be performed and evaluates the patient's ability to tolerate exam.

e. Assist in the department for mandatory monthly, quarterly, and yearly task such as monthly checks for out-of-date supplies in the closets and rooms. monthly checks of the alarm systems. Quarterly checks of the lead aprons.  And any other tasks that are assigned to the departments

f. Prioritizes exams with scheduling exams to ensure smooth workflow, minimize wait times and address stat requests.

g. Performs QC testing and reports problems with Diagnostic system and workstations to the service engineer/biomed, with additional correspondence sent to the physicist and imaging leadership.


h. Must be able to lift push or pull 40-50 lbs.

i. Responds to inquiries, calls, e-mails in a timely and professional manner. Utilizes the organizational standards email and phone etiquette.   When taking calls or making calls on the phone always identify yourself and the Department you are working in.

 

j. Communicates at shift hand off regarding workflow issues with equipment or pending exams with oncoming staff.

k. Work as a team player doing your fair share of work. Also help assist other modalities in the department with transferring patients, transporting patients and assisting with any support that they may need.

 

l. Actively participates in providing orientation and training for new hires and students ensuring that procedures are performed according to set standards and protocols. Functions in the department as a part of an interdisciplinary team and collaborates in the care and service delivery process of patient care through effective communication with other service lines. 

m. Adheres to hospital policies, procedures, competencies, regulatory compliance, infection control, hospital education, new yearly metrics and  department goals, patient satisfaction, and fiscally responsible with regards to equipment, supplies scheduling, overtime, etc.  Always be a team player and flexible in a schedule to be able to help fill in for shortage of staff.

n. Maintains patient confidentiality (HIPAA) and ensures that all processes and procedures are maintained to secure and protect all workstations in all work areas.

o. Utilize the Emergency Management criteria ie PASS,  RACE and knowledge of where fire pulls and extinguisher are in a fire situation.  Knowledge of emergency codes such as code blue, code white, and rapid response and your role in each of these situations.
