Job Description and Job Responsibilites

Job Title:  Clinical Educator

Job Summary:

The Clinical Educator will work with all clinical units to provide nursing professional development and education services and act as consultant for other clinical units as requested.  Reports to the Director of Education, Chief Nursing Officer.

Essential Job Duties: 

Develops positive professional relationships and learning climate in collaboration with staff and unit directors to improve practice competency and patient outcome

  • Assist with performing staff learning needs assessment yearly and as needed

  • Arrange and facilitate staff learning activities, in-services and/or classes (physician/vendor/other)

  •  Promotes the organization through maintenance of community relationships and affiliation contracts

  •  Plans, revises, and performs nursing orientation in collaboration with unit directors

  • Acts as mentor, educational resource, and leader for hospital staff to promote excellent patient care

  • Participates in organizational quality improvement efforts as needed or requested

  • Serves as a role model for the Mission, Vision and Values of the organization and fulfills other job duties as requested within Scope of Practice

  • Maintains current competencies as well as updated knowledge in specific area of practice

Job Requirements

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in nursing required; Master’s degree in nursing preferred;

  • Three years of recent acute care experience; >1 year education related activities OR completion of at least 24 hours of continuing education in nursing education required

  • Able to demonstrate theoretical and practical knowledge of principles of adult learning

  • Able to demonstrate educational program development and/or presentation

  • Able to self-direct and work with minimal supervision

Licensure/Certifications:

  •  Current RN licensed in good standing by the California State Board of Nursing

  • Current ACLS/BCLS/PALS (as applicable)
